HI I’M ANGELA

I’m the Founder and Clinical Director of Adaptations Therapy Institute, a fully licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and I believe therapy should feel safe, thoughtful, effective, and human. My work is grounded in attachment-based and trauma-informed care, with a focus on helping people navigate real life with more clarity, compassion, and security in themselves.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to start. I’m here to help you take the next step, and I look forward to supporting you.

Adaptations Therapy Institute is a group therapy practice offering attachment-based, trauma-informed, and nervous-system aware care for adults and couples.

Sessions are offered in person and virtually for Michigan clients, and virtually only for Hawaii clients. We support people struggling with anxiety, stress, anger, relationships, trauma, grief, life transitions, relocation, and moments of feeling lost or disconnected.

ABOUT THE PRACTICE

FOR CLIENTS &
CLINICIANS

Clients choose Adaptations because therapy here feels:

  • Grounded and emotionally safe

  • Relational, not rushed

  • Structured without being rigid

FOR CLIENTS

You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what you want to work on. We help you understand patterns, regulate your nervous system, and build more secure ways of relating—to yourself and to others.

Care is collaborative, paced, and focused on real, sustainable change.

Adaptations Therapy Institute was intentionally built to be a place where clinicians can do meaningful work and grow professionally without burning out.

We are a values-driven group practice grounded in attachment theory, relational ethics, and trauma-informed care. Our culture supports clinical depth, reflective practice, and professional autonomy—alongside clear structure and support.

Clinicians here value:

  • Thoughtful case consultation and supervision

  • Relational, attachment-based clinical work

  • Clear expectations and boundaries

  • Autonomy with support

  • Sustainable practice, not productivity pressure

FOR CLINICIANS

We offer clinical supervision aligned with the AAMFT Clinical Supervision and Approved Supervisor designation pathway for LMFTs in Michigan and Hawaii, supporting clinicians in both licensure and long-term professional development.

SHARED VALUES

  • We prioritize emotional safety by creating a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients and clinicians can engage in therapy with openness, trust, and psychological security.

  • Our work is grounded in nervous system awareness, helping clients understand stress responses, build regulation skills, and support lasting emotional and relational wellbeing.

  • Clear, respectful boundaries foster professionalism, trust, and therapeutic effectiveness, allowing meaningful growth to occur within a structured and supportive framework.

  • We value relational accountability — the ability to communicate openly, take responsibility, and repair when needed — because healthy relationships are central to mental health.

  • We honor diverse identities, cultures, and lived experiences, cultivating an inclusive therapy space where each person feels seen, respected, and understood.

  • Healing doesn’t have to be heavy. We welcome humor, authenticity, and humanity in the therapy process to support connection, resilience, and real-life change.

  • We support growth that is paced and sustainable while gently encouraging forward movement. With attunement and care, we help clients stretch beyond familiar patterns in ways that feel safe, supported, and transformative.

Whether you’re here as a client or a clinician, the foundation is the same:

Whether you’re seeking support for yourself, your relationship, or your professional growth, we’re here to help.
